A Traditional Dinner for $10.00

Traditional dinners in Albania are a treat, and we expect that they will cost a lot. In the future we will go to a classic place like Oda.

But for now, we’re eating that traditional meal for $10.00

We went to Loffel, and here’s the bill. 1,010 leke (about $12.20 these days, but each day varies).

Here’s the place…

There’s a little lunch/dinner place called Loffel. It’s down the street from us, about 300 meters.

“Gatime traditionale” means “traditional cooking.”

They get a crowd at lunch. We ate at dinner, and the food was very good, but the selection was limited. Next time, I (Barry) will hustle down there around 1:00 pm and bring food back to the apartment for dinner.

What did we eat?

* Chicken in lemon sauce
* Potato and carrot stew
* Half a serving of potatoes
* Water for Jennifer
* Water for Barry

Here’s another meal (a lunch) where I had a beer, meatballs, and jufka dibre (traditional noodles).

And so…

While it’s fun to go out and drop some big bucks on a meal, it can be even more fun to find a bargain. If you’re in town, please drop in.

Barry

  1. Noted elsewhere: you should consider doing YouTube videos on retiring abroad. Not historically common, but I suspect becoming more common today.
