Hello from Albania, our new home.

I’ve had a long life (87 years as of this writing) and done a LOT of different things – wife and mother to four children, two boys, two girls, all are retired except the youngest, Steven. Steven has about a decade or so before he can also live a more leisurely life.

All my life I have loved learning and sharing what I learned. As a housewife I’d share my latest discovery of a new floor wax that “outshined” the old version or a super bargain at a local store. In my fifties I became a co-owner of a computer sales and service company with my then husband, Dave Grainger. From there I went on to start my own company, The Ledgerworks, a mobile computerized bookkeeping service for small businesses that had not yet embraced the forthcoming tech age that was beginning to blossom. After a year or so I sold that business and spent the next ten years exploring the world of woo-woo.

I dove deep into all kinds of outside-the-mainstream technologies earning certification in:

  • Hypnotherapy (C.C.H.T.).
  • Aromatherapy.
  • NLP (Neural Linguistic Programming).
  • EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique).
  • Earned my Bachelor of Metaphysical Science degree (B. Msc.).
  • Studied to become a certified Radical Forgiveness Practitioner and fulfilled all the requirements but chose to not become certified because I would have had to commit to limiting my offering to only Radical Forgiveness. I couldn’t do that because I used all I had learned when a situation called for it so I simply offered Radical Forgiveness solutions when appropriate. My training did not go to waste!
  • Explored the Awakening Your Light Body material with Dwayne Packer and Sanaya Roman (www.OrinDaben.com). I learned to channel my guides, taught Awakening Your Light Body classes, offered Spring and Fall Retreats, opened people to channel their guides, offered individual channeling sessions.
  • Became a Certified Life Coach.
  • In 2006 I wrote my book: Becoming Conscious: One Woman’s Story of Spiritual Awakening that shared my journey from left-brain-logical-black-and-white thinker into a more fully alive person aware of the world beyond the third dimensional “matrix” we were raised in. It was rather radical stuff back in the day but is becoming more mainstream rather rapidly. It was a long journey of starts and stops and integrating my emotional body into the mix, which scared me mightily! It took some years but I finally came to terms with being a whole person. TIP: the journey never ends. 🙂
  • One of my Light Body students read my book and decided I was the right person to write her story which launched my last and final career. I became a ghostwriter (a writer who writes other peoples’ stories with their name on the book, not mine. I like that just fine).

So here I am in Albania living the life of freedom to do what I want, when I want, how I want. I love the freedom to do absolutely nothing important or useful for hours and sometimes days on end. I am like a race horse put out to pasture and I find it a perfect place to be.

I’m Barry (Barry Schoenborn), one of the names you see in the blog title.

I’ve been married to Jennifer for six years. We are a couple with a strange and wonderful relationship. This is my second marriage and it has lasted a lot longer than my first.

The blog title says that we’re in Albania, and dat’s de fac’, Jack. We arrived in Tirana on November 6, 2024. We’re retired. We live here permanently, and that’s the basis for this blog. What you’ll find here is our events, facts, local culture, and impressions of this wonderful Balkan country.

But wait! There’s more! There’s room here for history, strange facts, and speculation of all kinds. Everything fits, if it helps keep our story lively. Mainly, the blog should entertain, although it may also educate and inspire.

So here’s my welcome to you. Welcome! You are my past and current friends, friends of Jennifer, or friends we haven’t met yet. You can just absorb the words, pictures, and videos, but you’re also welcome to comment and to ask questions.
