The adventure continues…
We came to a beach town to go to the beach
We came to Durres to do nothing, and we did a lot of that. The hotel room rental included an umbrella rental and the right to park your butt in a chaise longue.
As you can see below, we also met Herbie, the Love Bug, done as a pedal boat. Then we met some fun dudes from Asterdam. Eventually I found a little store where we could load up on snacks.

Dinner, of course…
We had dinner one more time at Sublime. It was… er… Sublime.

Night time
At night, the moon and the bay put on a show for free.

Breakfast with two wonderful girls
Free breakfasts are worth what you pay for them. Oops! Our hotel breakfast wasn’t so great, except for petulla — fried dough with cherry jam.
But we met two wonderful girls from French Guiana. They had come in from Paris. We spoke some very bad French together. And they took a bunch of Jenn and Barry photos.

By the way, we left the hotel and had another meal — a real breakfast — next door at Sublime. The same place where we ate our other meals. Are we crazy, or what? Don’t answer.
Checking out
It was time to check out. We packed up and headed down the hall.

Now we filled the time with a tiny bit of sightseeing. We had our mandatory coffee on the street and then went by taxi to see the Venetian tower. When we returned to the hotel, it was only a short time before Bejkush, our driver from Tirana, picked us up and took us home.

Future plans…
We’ll return to Durres, for sure, but our next trip is to Pogradec (on Lake Ohrid at Albania’s eastern border). That trip will be for my birthday in August.
Later in the year, we’ll go to Italy. The “plane” we’ll take isn’t a plane — it’s a ferry. Here’s the overnight ferry returning from Bari, Italy. We’ll be leaving on this boat some day. Can’t say when.
