Sixth Wedding Anniversary, Part 1

Time passes. One day you’re taking vows (July 10, 2019) and the next thing you know you’re taking bows (July 10, 2025). Yes, we have had six years of marital bliss.

When we lived in Lodi, an anniversary was typical. We’d have an outrageous dinner – maybe even at a place with cloth napkins. Bud’s Seafood was a favorite place. We also had season tickets to Stockton Civic Theater, and the shows were first class.

So what do you do in Albania? You go to Durrës, the closest beach town around. It’s 43.4 km (26.9 miles) away. You book a room at the Vivas Hotel.

Great hotel! Our room was on the top floor with an ocean view (yes, you pay for that). AND it included rental of those lounge chairs and umbrellas you see (yes, you pay for that), wi-fi, and the typical free hotel breakfast. The hotel also has spa treatments, but Jennifer is already beautiful and didn’t need any. I personally think she should have opted for a carnauba hot wax and dressing the tires, but oh! You get that at QuickQuack carwash in Lodi.

We got settled and went down to the strand for coffee. This was a super chance for me cruise the restaurants along that blue “boardwalk” you see. And there are dozens.

We picked Sublime, right next door.

What did we eat? I swear, Albania runs on pizza, pasta, and crepes. So we didn’t have those. Here’s an item you’ll recognize.

Jenn had a “Kyoto” roll and I had a “Philly” roll, rolls that have nothing to do with either city. The food was super and the service was great! Jennifer thought it was a damned sight better that what they have in Tirana. I agree.
